Our leading veterinary facility is led by a diverse team of experienced general practitioners, emergency veterinarians and renowned specialist veterinarians in various disciplines.

Accompanying the veterinarians are our large teams of compassionate, friendly and efficient nurses, animal health technicians, general technicians, receptionists and support staff.

Dr Michael Gray
Practice Owner, Specialist Surgeon and Head of Surgery Clinic

BVSc, Cert. SAS (RCVS), MMedVet (Surg)

Dr Michael Gray qualified as a veterinarian in 1988 from Onderstepoort (University of Pretoria) and practised in Cape Town and London for several years before establishing the Panorama Veterinary Clinic in 1993. He was awarded a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in London in 2001. Subsequently, Dr Gray completed a Residency and Master’s degree in Small Animal Surgery and set up the first surgical referral clinic in Cape Town (at Panorama Veterinary Clinic) in 2004. He is also a registered specialist in Small Animal Surgery.

Dr Conrad Prins
Practice Owner, Veterinary Surgeon and Head of General Practice

BVSc

Dr Conrad Prins qualified as a Veterinarian from Onderstepoort, the University of Pretoria, in 1999. After practising for about 18 months in mostly the South-East of England, he returned to South Africa in October 2000 to join Panorama Veterinary Clinic. He became co-owner of the practice in 2002 and, together with Dr Michael Gray, developed the practice into the referral centre that it is today. Dr Prins is heading the general practice and, apart from general clinical duties, is very much involved in the business development and administration of the practice. Clinically, Dr Prins still enjoys Small Animal Surgery.

Dr Peter Guy
Specialist Surgeon

BSc, BVSc, MMedVet (Surg)

After graduating from Onderstepoort in 2013, Dr Peter Guy began his career as a general practitioner at Panorama Veterinary Clinic in 2014. With a passion for orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, he embarked on a surgical residency under the guidance of Dr. Michael Gray in 2021, successfully completing it by the end of 2023. Dr Guy is a qualified specialist in Small Animal Surgery. Outside of his professional endeavours, Peter indulges in outdoor pursuits and has a keen interest for long-distance running whenever time permits. At home, he shares his space with a zoo, including four dogs, four cats, and two children.

Dr Jurgens van Zyl
Resident Surgeon

Dr. van Zyl qualified with his veterinary degree from the University of Pretoria in 2013. Afterwards, he joined a large referral and emergency centre as an after-hours veterinarian for two years, gaining invaluable experience. From 2016 - 2017 Jurgens worked as a general practitioner which led to the development of a keen interest in surgery. In 2018, Jurgens started performing advanced surgeries and procedures, after attending multiple short courses, honing his skill. At the end of 2021 he joined Panorama Veterinary Clinic and Specialist Centre as a surgeon in order to expand on his experience and knowledge in this field. Under the experienced guidance of our specialist surgeons, Dr Gray and Dr Guy, Dr van Zyl is quickly developing his already impressive surgical skills and started his specialist training in 2024.

Dr Riaan Pont
Resident Surgeon

BVSc

Dr Riaan Pont was born and raised in the Waterberg area of the Limpopo province and completed his Veterinary degree at the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort, in 2018. In 2019, he completed his Compulsory Community Service year in Prieska, Northern Cape. He has a special interest in Small Animal Surgery and Wildlife and he completed a Honours degree in Small Animal Surgery in 2022. Dr Pont’s keen interest in surgery led him to pursue specialisation in this filed and he embarked on a residency under the guidance of Drs Gray and Guy in 2024. His hobbies are mountain biking, running and other outdoor activities.

Dr Wilco Botha
Specialist Physician and Head of Internal Medicine
BSc, BVSc (Hons), MMedVet (Med), Dip. ECVIM-CA (Internal Medicine)  

Dr Wilco Botha is a South African and European-recognised specialist in Internal Medicine. He qualified as a veterinarian in 2013 from Onderstepoort, where he also completed his specialist training. After spending some time in academia as a lecturer, he set up the internal medicine service at the Panorama Veterinary Clinic and Specialist Centre. Dr Botha is still actively involved in canine parvoviral enteritis research and specialist training at this practice.

Dr Louis Loubser
Resident: Internal Medicine

Dr Loubser completed his Veterinary Degree at the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort in 2018. In 2019 he did his CCS (Compulsory Community Service) year in Standerton. In 2020 he moved to Cape Town and started working at Panorama Veterinary Clinic and Specialist Centre as a general practitioner. Louis has always shown a strong talent for internal medicine and in 2022 embarked on his training as a specialist in this field. He is currently completing his master's degree in small animal internal medicine.

Dr Johan Venter
Veterinary Surgeon

Dr Johan Venter qualified from Onderstepoort in 2011, he has a passion for Small Animal Surgery and enjoys working up medical cases. He is the proud pet parent of 2 Saluki hounds and a domestic shorthair kitty. He is originally from Bloemfontein but has absolutely fallen in love with Cape Town. In his spare time, he enjoys searching for and restoring antique furniture.

Dr Naomi Steinberg
Veterinary Surgeon

Being born and raised in the Free State, Dr Naomi Steinberg moved to Pretoria and completed her Veterinary Science degree at the University of Pretoria in 2018. In 2019, she did her community service year in Malelane, after which she started at Panorama Veterinary Clinic. Her interests are Soft Tissue Surgery and Ophthalmology.

Dr Courtney van der Merwe

Dr Courtney van der Merwe qualified as a veterinarian from Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria, in 2017. Following her compulsory community service year, Courtney went on to obtain her master’s degree in Veterinary Industrial Pharmacology. Starting at Panorama in 2021, the skill set gained from practising collaborative medicine, will serve as a foundation for future specialization. 

Dr Lara Murray
Veterinary Surgeon

Dr Lara was born and raised in Cape Town. She qualified from Onderstepoort in 2019. Dr. Murray returned to Cape Town in 2020 to complete her community service year at, and then privately worked for, a small animal welfare clinic in Khayelitsha. Dr. Murray joined the Panorama team in 2021. She enjoys most aspects of small animal veterinary work but especially enjoys medicine and dermatology. 

Dr Vanessa Faber
Veterinary Surgeon

DVM, MSc

Dr Vanessa Faber qualified from the Szént István University Budapest in 2014. After graduating she practiced in a referral veterinary clinic in Germany for 3 years. Her roots however being in South Africa and after having done various practicals around the country she decided to sit the South African Veterinary Board Exam in 2016 and moved here permanently in 2017. After the completion of her Compulsory Community Service in Upington, she locumed at various clinics in the Eastern Cape while working on her MSc in Wildlife Medicine and Health at the University of Pretoria which she completed in 2021. Dr Vanessa joined Panorama Veterinary Clinic as a long-term locum in September 2022, her special interests lying in the field of soft tissue surgery and emergency medicine. She is currently busy with a post-graduate certificate in small animal surgery. In her free time, she trains for triathlons, and enjoys everything outdoor related.

Dr Nicola Foord

Dr Nicola Foord grew up in Louis Trichardt, Limpopo. After qualifying in 2021 from Onderstepoort, she completed her community service year in Ladysmith, KZN. Dr. Foord joined the Panorama team in 2023. She enjoys both medicine and surgery aspects of veterinary medicine, but has special interest in developing her surgical skills. 

Dr Nicola Griffin
Veterinary Surgeon

BSc, BVSc

Dr Nicola is originally from Johannesburg and is an accomplished equestrian. She studied a BSc in Microbiology and Biochemistry before following her passion and qualifying from Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria in 2021. Dr Griffin completed her community service at one of the Universities satellite clinics in Mamelodi where she was able to assist in teaching the next generation veterinarians Veterinary nurses as well as helping the immediate community. She is excited to further her education and help her patients in both medicine and surgery.

Dr Rozaan Grobler

BVSc

Dr Rozaan Grobler was born and raised in Pretoria. She discovered a love for the natural world early on, spending school holidays on her grandparents’ farm in the Waterberg.

She qualified as a veterinarian from Onderstepoort in 2021 and moved to the western Cape to complete her CCS year at a welfare organisation in Ashton.

She enjoys working with companion animals, with a special interest in internal medicine and diagnostic imaging.

Dr Anèl de Beer
Veterinary Surgeon

Dr Anèl de Beer qualified as a veterinarian from Onderstepoort in 2013. She worked as a day vet for about a year in Danabaai, before joining the after hours team in 2014. Here she realised emergency and critical care were her calling. In her off time, she enjoys remote weekends away with her husband, riding her horse and drawing realistic animal portraits. She has a menagerie of pets, and her two old English sheepdogs are also blood donors at Panorama.

Dr. Juanita Loots qualified as a veterinarian from Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria, in 2010. She found her feet in small animal practice in Johannesburg before discovering her passion for emergency medicine and critical care as an afterhours veterinarian. After moving to Cape Town she joined the Panorama Afterhours Veterinary team in 2017. She completed a Post-graduate diploma in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2019.
She lives in Stellenbosch with her fiancé and two Sphynx cats.
